James began his music publishing career in 2001 at Universal Music Publishing. As director of A&R, he cultivated a roster of songwriters and artists such as The Matrix, The RZA, and Erykah Badu, along with major signings Asher Roth, Rob Holladay, and producer/writers Greg Curtis and Keith Harris, who both had Billboard #1’s. In 2011, James brought his experience to SONGS as the A&R West Coast representative for the company. James actively looks for new talent, pitches songs for various media projects, and is constantly exploring new opportunities for the SONGS roster.
